Hey! I swinged by tempted by supernatural and then just had to jump into this post to say Amen. Nice to meet you and hope you don´t mind.

Also, that would be north america. As any latino will point out, America is a continent, and we are part of it too. Most of us think it´s vaguely offensive the way that gringos (which is not a derogatory term, it just slides easier off the tongue than US citizen or some other such) have gone and claimed the american title all for themselves.

On abortion: Women have rights that include them having the right to decide whether or not they want to have children at a certain/any given point in their lives. It´s really not fair to stick them with a kid because they though that it was Tuesday when it was actually Wednesday, so they skipped a pill, or because they are just that fertile. I really don´t think that allowing abortion inside a reasonable window of time is too much to ask, especially if in that window of time the fetus is no more aware than a carrot would be.

On sex: What is with that? It seems like it´s this huge, life changing event. Seriously, it seems like I missed the memo on this, because I´m pretty certain that my life before was not all that different from my life after. It´s fun, it´s nice, but it´s not life altering or rocket-science-sy. You should teach kids the basics and tell them to put it off until they are emotionally mature enough that it won´t be a big deal.

On environmental policy: No, the greenhouse effect is not something made up by the evil democrats to try and take off votes from the republicans. (Sometimes I don´t know whether to bursts out crying or laughing. God, some people are just... *gestures*)

Also, not very related and just to get it off my chest, most latinos don´t build boats in their backyards in hopes of sailing into north american shores and becoming gringos. I´m chilean, I could actually buy a plane ticket to go there if I wanted to and I don´t want to be american. I am not oppressed, I don´t wear charro hats, my diet isn´t based in corn or beans and we happen to be very civilized, in that there are roads and cars and running water. Amazing, I know.
See, in most Hollywood movies I´ve seen, Latin america is made out of dirty little towns, that are either in the desert, in the beach or surrounded by jungle, where everyone spends their days sleeping siesta, dancing salsa and praying hysterically in the local catholic church. What actually happens is that people go to school and collegue and work (in cars and all), and occasionally run away to their preferred happy-hour spot.
